West Highland Way Section 5 – Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy / Inveroran
The fifth section of the West Highland way between Tyndrum and the Bridge of Orchy or alternatively to Inveroran is the shortest section. This makes it ideal to complete with either adjoining sections for those wanting to complete the Way quicker. The WHW now leaves the Loch Lomond and the Trosachs National Park as you climb up to the pass on the Old Military Road from Tyndrum. Despite being outside the National Park, the mountains and views are no less impressive.
The views are particularly spectacular as as you flank the Corbetts of Beinn Odhar and Beinn a’ Chaisteil, and the Munro of Beinn Dorain, providing the best taste of highland that you’ve had so far! This is a straightforward section of the trail, and now you’re into the 5th day of the walk, should be trail fit and be able to enjoy the scenery. Extending the route onward to Inveroran Hotel adds only 4km to the section, and shortens the tougher Rannoch Moor section.
